San Salvador, Thursday, April 28, 2016 – Digicel El Salvador and Facebook, the most important social network worldwide, announced Thursday the launch of “Free Basics”, a platform developed by Facebook to offer people free access to information and knowledge through more than 40 sites such as Wikipedia, Facebook, Messenger, El Salvador.com, Laprensagrafica.com and BabyCenter & Mama, among others.
In announcing the launch of Free Basics Digicel Free Internet Facebook during a forum at the José Simeón Cañas University, Digicel El Salvador and Facebook explained that the initiative aims to expand access and knowledge of connectivity to two thirds of the world population that does not yet have including more than half the population of El Salvador.
