Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) Details and Price
Samsung Galaxy A8
The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) unit made an entry into the market with its sibling, the Galaxy A8+, and it can be the most unique phablet you have ever used. As Samsung has now been known to be fond of, they did not do much to change the form factor and build of the unit, but the total revamp under the hood is what is setting tongues wagging. Pipped as one of the potential upper midrange best performers of the South Korean OEM, here is what all the fuss is about.

Design and Display
Samsung has been making a lot of sacrifices that we do not appreciate with their midrange devices of late, but they went all out for the Galaxy A8 (2018). The build of the device is one that can be expected from any of the A, C or even J family of smartphones, so we won’t be bordering on that. What is impressive here, however, is the 5.6 inches of screen that is set at a resolution of 1080 x 1220 pixel. Coupling that with a density of 441ppi, it is no doubt why the screen can be grouped up there with HD offerings.
The midrange smartphone shows some class in the build, opting for a front and back glass design that is framed in an aluminium body. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology, the phone is reinforced against minor drops. Speaking of reinforcement, an IP68 certification ensures that the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) can stay underwater for as long as an hour, provided the body of water is not more than 1m deep.
Memory and Performance
The only CPU option possible on any one of these units is a 4GB RAM option, but that is well enough to handle most tasks that would be thrown at the phone. An in-house Exynos 7885 chipset is also used in the device. While not as widespread as their Qualcomm counterparts, the 7th generation Exynos chipsets are a powerhouse in their own rights too.
For graphics, Samsung sourced the Mali-G71 unit for their Galaxy A8 (2018). Even though there are no RAM options, a user can choose to go for the model with 32GB internal space, or buy on with 64GB instead. No matter which one is picked though, a microSD card slot on board makes things interesting.
Camera
Right here is one of the most interesting things to talk about on the Galaxy A8 (2018). The front of the device is not just beautiful, but also plays house to a dual camera setup. Rated at 16MP and 8MP, both cameras promise to redefine the way selfies and secondary videos come out. As a plus, they can shoot videos of up to 1080p quality.
On the back is a single 16MP unit that packs a LED flash for low-light capturing. Geo-tagging, touch focus and shooting in both panorama and HDR mode are supported on the rear, standalone unit
Battery, Connectivity and Software
With all of the impressive things Samsung has managed to tuck under the hood, it is a shame that they would not include a battery bigger than 3000mAh. It is also a non-removable unit, so that could mean it being stronger than the average, like-rated battery.
Announced in September 2017, it would have been a real joy to see the Android 8 Oreo ship with the unit. While an update is expected, users would have to make do with the Android 7.11.1 Nougat on board. Barring that downside, things are looking up with the inclusion of Bluetooth 5.0 technology, GPS and NFC functionality and as well, a USB Type C connector system.

You can check the pricing and availability of the unit in your local brick-and-mortar and online stores. Generally, the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) has been reported with price tags of between #183,750 – #200,000
